When Educators Feel Supported, Children Thrive.
I help Kindy teams build emotional safety, reduce behaviour stress, and create classrooms where every child belongs.
About me
This framework sits at the centre of my Kindy program. When educators understand these 5 needs, they stop seeing behaviour as a problem to manage — and start seeing it as a communication to respond to. This shift changes everything in the room.
In group settings, PBSP creates powerful shared experiences where participants witness and support each other's growth — building trust, empathy, and genuine connection within the group itself.
I bring this same depth into my early childhood work. I work with Queensland Kindy directors and their teams to build the emotional safety, educator confidence, and practical skills that children need to thrive.
My approach is practical first. Every strategy I teach can be used the next day. Every concept is grounded in trauma-informed research. Every session is designed with your team's real workload in mind.
Hi, I'm Leigh Kennedy
I'm a trauma-informed Holistic Counsellor, and PBSP practitioner with over 20 years of experience supporting people to understand emotions — and respond to them with confidence.
For over 13 years, I have worked as a trauma-informed holistic counsellor, specialising in artistic therapies that support emotional literacy, self-awareness, and deeply focused on regulation.
For the past 5 years, I have trained in Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor — known as PBSP — a body-based, attachment-focused approach to emotional healing and repair.
PBSP is at the heart of everything I do. It is a deeply researched method that works with the body, memory, and relationship to support attachment repair and build new emotional responses.
Central to PBSP is an understanding of our 5 basic needs for psychological development — the core needs every human being requires to develop emotional safety, regulation, and healthy relationships.
And beyond the work, I am a Mum, a Grandmother, a daughter, a sister, and an aunt. Nature fills me up — whether I am walking along the beach, spotting wildlife, or searching for wildflowers in the rainforest and mountains.
I am also deeply creative. You will find me renovating, basket-weaving, sewing, painting, Knitting, crocheting, cooking, or pottering in the garden.
This is not separate from my work — it is woven through it. My love of creativity is exactly why art-based approaches sit at the centre of everything I teach.
